ElevenLabs Free accounts created after March 2026 will lose TTS API access after December 31, 2026

I recently contacted ElevenLabs support while migrating my app from the deprecated Default voices to their replacement voices.

According to ElevenLabs, Default voices are only available to accounts created before March 2026, and all Default voices will be removed on December 31, 2026.

The problem is that the replacement voices are Voice Library / community voices. They are available to Free users in the web app, but Free users cannot use Voice Library voices through the API.

Support confirmed that this is a hard API restriction.

They also said that Voice Design voices saved to My Voices can be used through the Free API, but creating new Voice Design voices requires a paid plan.

So for a Free account created after March 2026, once the Default voices are removed, there appears to be no TTS voice available through the API.

This could be important for anyone using ElevenLabs as a free TTS backend, including r/homeassistant users.
